What is the difference between mixing and mastering?
Mixing is balancing every track in a song — vocals, drums, bass, instruments — with level, EQ, compression, space and effects until they work as one record. Mastering is the final stage: the finished stereo mix is polished, made consistent and brought to the right loudness so it translates on phones, car speakers, club systems and streaming platforms.
A good master cannot rescue a bad mix, which is why Static Studios usually handles both. The engineer who balances the vocal against the beat is the one who decides how loud and how bright the final master should be.
Can I get my song mixed and mastered online?
Yes. Mixing and mastering can be handled entirely remotely, for artists anywhere in Jordan, the Gulf or further away. You send the stems, the engineer sends back a mix to review, revisions are made, and you receive the final master plus the files you need for release. You never have to book a room unless you want to sit in.
How should I prepare stems for mixing?
- Export every track from the very start of the session, so they all line up
- Print the effects you rely on, and send a dry lead vocal as well
- Name the tracks clearly: Lead Vox, Adlibs, Kick, 808…
- Keep peaks below 0 dBFS — no clipping on any stem
- Include a rough mix and one or two reference songs you like the sound of
- Note the tempo (BPM) and the key
Why the room matters for mixing
You can only mix what you can hear. Headphones and untreated bedrooms hide problems in the low end that show up later on a car stereo or a club system.
